BUSINESS AND CHANGES IN THE DRAGON YEAR 2012

MANILA, Philippines — All businessmen should be ready to change. They must be flexible to handle their business and adapt to the new situation,” says world-renowned Feng Shui expert Joseph Chau Kam Shing to media guests during the recent launch of his 2012 Lunar Calendar at Fully Booked, High Street.

Industries that will have a thriving business this year include those that involve tourism, trading, hotel, transportation and shipping. “Anything relating to water element is lucky,” says Chau.

“That is why I emphasize that the tourism department should conceive how to make the (granting and releasing of) visas easier or enable visitors to stay longer,” he adds. Instead of 14 days, the government should consider 21 days to a month to attract more tourists.

Expect a good year too if you belong to the manufacturing and food industries, as these industries belong to the wood element, which is supposed to be lucky this year. Lady luck will also smile upon boutiques, media and publishing, including bookstores.

Construction and real estate industries— both belonging to the earth element—will be slowing down this year.

The luck of businesses belonging to the metal element will be on a “50-50” ratio. Banking, car selling, entertainment (movies, TV shows) all belong to metal element.

“But 50-50 is still good,” says Chau.

Education and the arts will also be favored, but the IT industry, being a fire element, will face a lot of challenges this year. Politics, military and police also belong to this category.

“This year is the year of the water dragon, maraming tubig (there’s a lot of water),” he explains. “Fire element will be extinguished by water, that’s why their luck will be a little bit down.”

Prepare for floods, explosions. Last year, Chau says, places located in the East were unlucky because the disaster star was in the East.

Japan, located in the Eastern part of Asia, was hit by an earthquake resulting to a tsunami in 2011. This year, the disaster star is located in the Southeast direction. Does this mean we need to brace ourselves for more disasters this year?

“In the year 2012, the Philippines will be attacked by flooding,” forecasts Chau.

Leaders and decision-making people: Chau cautions all company heads that they are more prone to lose money this year since the “robbery star” is located in the Northwest.

This doesn’t literally mean that people will rob them of money. “It means that you may have the possibility to make wrong decisions that will cause your business to lose money,” he explains. The same rings true for the leader of every country.

Any wrong decision a leader does, Chau asserts, will have a great effect on his country’s economic situation.

2012 is said to be a very good year for marriage.

Stars and directions Chau also discussed some of the topics in his lunar calendar, one of which is the Feng Shui chart that can guide us in our everyday life, such as in business transactions:

• If the company’s main entrance is located in the Northwest, the company is in danger of losing money.

• You will easily get sick this year if your bedroom door is located in the North direction, as the sickness star is in the North.

• Sitting in the North direction in your office will invite betrayal from your colleagues.

• The year is good for marriage if you are in your 40s, thanks to the prosperity star’s location in the Northeast.

• If your office or house is located in the Southwest area, you will easily have conflicts with other people.

• The West area, on the other hand, invites money or wealth. Offices with main entrances facing the West are very lucky this year.

• The center houses the travel star, and connotes traveling and movement.

• This year’s lucky colors are gold, silver, white, sky blue and green. In the end, Chau says every business’ luck will also depend on the boss’ luck.

“Even if the business is not so popular in 2012, if the luck of the company’s boss is very lucky, then their business will still do good,” he says.

Mr. Joseph Chau’s “2012 Water Dragon Lunar Calendar” is available at all Fully Booked branches.
