You can't Clean House if you don't know what's Hiding Under your Furniture!

Why is it we only clean the areas of our home and office that we and others will see? Is it because we want to look good and dust-free for those coming in and possibly for ourselves – if we even have enough self-confidence to feel that cleaning up matters to us. Typically, we clean only the absolutely necessary parts where people can run a finger and make a comment.

What can’t be seen under sofas, chairs, desks, tables, and in cupboards and drawers are the last things we get to – if we ever do. Let’s be honest. Those stacks of papers, magazines, books, and dust bunnies may have been with you for at least 12 months. Hands up if it’s two years!

I was helping clean the office of a business manager friend. Under the office desk was stacks and fallen-over sheaves of papers, some flat, some rolled or scrunched. It was knee high under the desk. Imagine the surprise when my friend found the cell phone he’d lost two years ago. It was under the papers. Many large blue recycling bins later ….

The point of this brief article is that you, your feelings, and your growing self-confidence matter. And you will feel much better about yourself. That is, when you take half an hour and blow out the negative, stale dead energies surrounding, blocking and holding you back. Become the energizer bunny to blow out the dust bunnies! Stale or dead Ssu Qi needs to be energized as often as you think of it – at least once in every one of the four seasons.

Seemingly we never get to cleaning underneath because we think it will take too long. Incorrect. Usually it’s just a few minutes. It only looked big in your mind. This brings up a point. Why do we let the small petty aspects of our lives take up so much space inside our heads? They don’t deserve it!

On the other hand, the most important aspects of our meaningful existence, like lovers, friends, self-reflective time, and exercise hardly take up any head space.

Friends, it’s time to re-prioritize. Make it a habit every morning and night. Aren’t you curious about what you could write down in 15 minutes about the value-laden experiences you had today? And in the morning, being open to the ones that are coming to you?

Lastly and most importantly, take time to find out what thoughts and feelings are hiding under your mask, your anxiety, your unhappiness. Make friends with your Self, your true spiritual Self in your heart… you might just find that there’s only love in your heart and you’re getting more ready to give and receive it than you ever thought possible.
